Alexis Sowa Consumer Financial Services & Venmo
Alexis Sowa serves as PayPal’s Interim Lead of Consumer Financial Services & Venmo, responsible for driving Venmo’s evolution from a peer-to-peer payments app into a comprehensive commerce and financial services ecosystem, enabling millions of consumers to pay, shop, and manage money seamlessly. Prior to this, Alexis was General Manager of Venmo where she led the business and drove product strategy to deliver growth, user engagement, and financial performance.
Alexis is a seasoned leader with nearly 25 years of experience building and scaling consumer technology and financial services products. Immediately prior to Venmo she was at Block, serving as General Manager of multiple products during her tenure: Square Point of Sale, Square Payments, and Square Payroll. In these roles she held P&L responsibility and directly led cross-functional teams to drive innovation and expand Square’s seller ecosystem. Previously she worked at McKinsey & Company, where she advised organizations on growth strategy, product development, and organizational transformation. Earlier in her career she worked at Google where she joined pre-IPO and worked in a range of roles across the U.S. and Europe.
Alexis holds a Master of Public Administration in International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from Stanford University.
