We invest in the next generation of entrepreneurs.

We are committed to harnessing the power of our technology and scale to help nonprofits raise mission-critical funds and provide new ways for people to connect and give to the causes they care about — anytime, anywhere, and in any amount. In 2021, our customer community donated more than $19 billion through the PayPal Giving Platform to nearly 1.4 million nonprofits, schools, and personal causes.

We create innovative giving solutions.

New generations are driving changes in charitable giving and we are developing innovative tools to meet these evolving needs. In 2021, through the evolution of our products, we introduced even more ways for the PayPal community to give and raise funds. We made it easier for customers to donate through the PayPal app, raising $182 million through the app in 2021. We expanded the availability of our Give at Checkout feature, which provides customers with the option to give a microdonation of just $1 when they check out with PayPal, across Europe to France, Italy, and Spain.

We help raise critical funds to support global relief efforts.

As a global company, we are committed to supporting relief efforts worldwide. During times of crisis, we look to support our impacted customers with information, fee waivers, and financial support. We also donate PayPal funds and leverage our fundraising platform to mobilize consumer-driven support for responding charities. In 2021, PayPal mobilized around nine rapid response initiatives globally to drive relief efforts for natural disasters, ongoing COVID-19 impacts, and other emergency situations. Through our corporate initiatives and the generosity of our employees, we collectively contributed $11.4 million to help communities survive, recover, and rebuild after disastrous events, including Texas winter storms, attacks against Asian Americans, Australian and European floods, India and Philippines COVID outbreaks, and the Afghanistan humanitarian crisis.

We partner to further our impact.

We partner to further our impact.

To enable even more ways for nonprofit and charitable organizations to connect with donors, in 2021, we partnered with giving platforms Blackbaud and Classy to seamlessly integrate our platform technology into their extensive networks. We also partnered with Uber and Walgreens to launch the Vaccine Access Fund, allowing customers to donate to help those without transportation to COVID-vaccination sites secure a ride.
