In 2023, our customers donated $19.8 billion to nonprofits and causes worldwide. This generosity reflects the strength of our global community and the vital role our platform plays in times of need.

We create innovative giving solutions

New generations are driving changes in charitable giving, and we’re creating tools to meet these needs. In 2022, we launched PayPal Rewards, letting U.S. customers earn and redeem points for cash back that can be donated to a cause of their choice. Expanding donation options in the PayPal app helped customers raise over $342 million in 2023. We also introduced Venmo Charity Profiles, allowing users to raise funds and receive donations directly through the Venmo app.

We help raise critical funds to support global relief efforts

We’re committed to supporting relief efforts worldwide. During times of crisis, we assist impacted customers with information, fee waivers, and financial support. We also use the PayPal Giving Platform to mobilize support for responding nonprofits and causes. In 2023, we facilitated aid for global disasters, including the Turkey-Syria earthquakes, Hurricane Otis in Mexico, and the fires in Maui, Hawaii, enabling $93 million in donations to support rapid response and relief efforts.

We partner to further our impact

We continue to identify new ways to make donating to nonprofits and causes more seamless. Over the past year, we partnered with more than 20 humanitarian organizations, including UNHCR, the International Rescue Committee, Save the Children, Doctors Without Borders, and UNICEF, to support relief efforts in Ukraine. Additionally, we collaborated with Uber to support the International Rescue Committee in assisting families displaced by the conflict.
