The Maggie Lena Walker Award recognizes and promotes the achievements of underrepresented women who have charted new paths in their industries, demonstrated a commitment to economically empowering those in their communities and are ultimately creating a more inclusive, dynamic, and equal world.
The award recognizes women who are part of underrepresented minority groups defined in the U.S. as African American, Hispanic or Latinx, Native American or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islanders and those of two or more races that include one of the above.
Nominees must be a citizen of the U.S. and be doing work focused on economic empowerment and/or creating economic opportunities in the U.S.
Each year, we select award recipients in each of the following categories:
This award celebrates individuals who, through their career and accomplishments, have economically empowered those in their community. The winner will be awarded $50,000.

This award recognizes “rising star” leaders who are charting new paths in their industry and creating opportunities for advancement in their communities. Three winners will be awarded $20,000 each.
